The Challenge

The campaign had a hard deadline. Registrations closed on a fixed date, so every week of delay meant fewer visitors at the show. The client wanted registrations at volume, but at a cost that made sense for a trade audience.

There was also a second, smaller goal: collecting leads for a separate offering linked to the event. It needed its own audience, its own budget and its own reporting, so it could not be allowed to blur the main registration numbers.

The goal was clear: use Meta to build reach quickly, turn that reach into registrations, and keep the cost of each registration under control.

YRSK Digital - Meta Ads Strategy

We worked across four areas at the same time, because Meta performance improves fastest when audience, creative, structure and budget control improve together.

1. Audience and Funnel Strategy

  • Full-funnel audiences: We started with job-title and interest targeting, then moved to lookalikes and finally remarketing. Each stage had one clear job.
  • Lookalike audiences: We built them from people who had already registered. They scaled volume at a much lower cost than the campaign average.
  • Remarketing: We brought back people who started registering but did not finish. This recovered registrations at a similarly low cost.
  • Awareness layer: We widened the top of the funnel with a dedicated awareness campaign. It put the show in front of a much larger audience for the stages below to convert.

2. Creative Strategy

  • Reels first: We tested formats side by side and Reels clearly beat Carousels. They became the main source of registrations.
  • Urgency-based messaging: Countdown copy such as "Registration closes soon" and "Register now" gave people a reason to act today. It worked well as the deadline got closer.
  • Test and scale: We ran several creatives at once and moved budget behind the winners. Weak ads were paused early.

3. Campaign Structure and Lead Generation

  • Platforms by role: Meta was used for scale, reach and registrations, while search handled high-intent demand. This stopped the two platforms competing for the same job.
  • Separate registration and awareness campaigns: Each had its own objective and budget. It kept results easy to read and optimise.
  • Lead generation on its own track: We used native lead forms, a separate budget and clean reporting. The secondary goal never distorted the main registration numbers.
  • Lookalike and remarketing for leads: We applied the same funnel logic to the lead goal. This helped it beat its target.

4. Optimisation and Budget Control

  • Regular audience and creative reviews: We checked what was working and shifted spend towards the best performers. The money went where registrations were coming from.
  • Cost discipline: We kept watching the cost of each registration while scaling. The campaign finished under the planned budget while beating its targets.
  • Reporting by objective: Each goal was tracked separately. This made it clear what every rupee had delivered.

Why It Worked

  1. Every audience had one job. Cold audiences built reach, lookalikes scaled registrations and remarketing closed the gap.
  2. Creative was tested, not guessed. Reels beat Carousels in testing, so budget followed what people actually responded to.
  3. Urgency matched the deadline. Countdown messaging turned interest into registrations before the window closed.
  4. Goals were kept separate. Registrations and leads each had their own campaigns, budget and reporting.

Key Takeaways for Event and B2B Campaigns on Meta

  • Build the funnel in layers: awareness, lookalikes, then remarketing.
  • Test formats early. Short video often beats static and carousel ads.
  • Use deadline-based copy when registration has a closing date.
  • Give every campaign goal its own budget and reporting.
  • Track cost per registration, not just clicks and impressions.
